Film Club is once again marking Armistice, and this year with a ยฃ3 donation to The Poppy Appeal for each ticket sold, so please do come along and support the appeal whilst watching an Oscar-nominated film.
We know that ‘standard’ war films aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so we’re trying something a little different with our October film and weโre asking you to trust us on it! We’re showing ๐ ๐ค๐ฎ๐๐ช๐ญ ๐๐ค๐ฬ๐ก. Whilst it’s largely centred on the unofficial truce of Christmas Day 1914, there’s a good deal of story to get through first.
There are moments of war of course (and subtitles!), but this is โ in the main โ a very human tale, told from the perspective of all sides involved. So while it’s not a normal war film, neither is it a normal Christmas film, and positioning it as an Armistice event is a perfect reminder that during the dark days of war there can be light, and we should never forget both aspects.
Wednesday 29 October, 19:30 (doors 19:00). Tickets now available from The Village Shop.
